Selection Guide: How to Choose Between Different Style Range Hoods?
Share
Choosing the right range hood involves understanding which installation type best fits your needs. By selecting the right model, you can match your kitchen’s style. Let’s take a look at the different installation options offered by Sakura Canada.
Under Cabinet
If your kitchen has cabinets installed, an under-cabinet range hood is a good option. This type of hood is supported by the bottom panel of the cabinet, making installation relatively simple. The positioning of the duct opening is more flexible as well.
Before purchasing, make sure to measure the distance between the bottom of your cabinet and the counter top. Sakura Canada offers many under-cabinet models, each model with specific distance requirement. You can refer to the website for details.
Wall-Mount Chimney
If you don’t have cabinets above your stove, a wall-mounted range hood is the right choice. These hoods are supported by the wall and the duct is concealed within the chimney flue cover. However, the placement of the duct is more critical and may require repositioning if they are not in the suitable location, which could involve more extensive work.
When choosing a wall-mounted range hood, make sure to consider the height of your kitchen ceiling since the chimney flue cover needs to match it.
Sakura Canada offers specialized wall-mounted hoods, as well as models that can be installed this way. They come with covers suitable for 8ft or 9ft ceilings. It’s important to note that wall-mounted hoods are usually more powerful, so ensure that your duct is at least 6” in diameter.
Built-In
Built-in range hoods have the motor hidden inside the cabinet, suitable for kitchens with custom cabinetry or those who prefer a concealed hood.
Sakura Canada offers built-in hoods in 24” and 30” sizes, which can be paired with 24” stoves commonly found in condos. Since the motor is hidden inside the cabinet, make sure there is enough space for installation.
Of course, you can adjust based on your kitchen’s design. Cabinets can be removed to install a wall-mount hood, or additional cabinets can be installed for an under-cabinet model. The key is to choose a hood that you like. A well-suited range hood will keep your kitchen fresh and make cooking enjoyable!
